Ethiopia Guji Odo Shakiso

Odo Shakiso is one of the woredas in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. It is part of the Guji Zone and among the towns there are Shakiso and Megado. What is very typical in the flavour of Odo Shakiso’s coffees are the predominant berry aromatics with orange acidity and caramel/toffee sweetness. It’s one of the regions of Ethiopian’s largest specialty coffee growing producers. The farms are situated between 1,850 and 2,300 meters above sea level. The regions’ soil is volcanic and rich in nutrients. There are wide wide variety of trees in the forest that provide natural shade for coffees. Because of Shakisso’s high altitude and dry weather, coffee cherries develop very slowly. At these elevations the coffee beans can be qualified as “Strictly High Grown” (SHG). As coffees grow more slowly, they have more time to absorb nutrients and develop more robust flavours based on the local climate and soil conditions.
